The stage when you're precisely in-between being a nobody and being a somebody is hellish for your ego, so does one cope?
I've seen it before. An ever so slightly dismissive look, a glance to the left, and then a pitiful inhale of breath before the person in front of you tells you all the reasons why you will not succeed in the next venture of your life. It doesn't matter if this is at a party, a pitch meeting or indeed on Zoom, you'll feel despondent and angry. You'll overreact and be defensive because you are feeling the sting of being in the Purgatory state of Career Change Hell.
