New Method 13 | Separate Fact, Opinion and Experience

This is your weekly affirmation to help you build your personal philosophy. Have a great weekend!
Take a deep breathe in...and say it with me...
We decide what information is most important to us at that particular moment and understand that context is key when choosing how we absorb information. We create a filter that sorts facts, opinions and experiences in order to weigh the impact and believability of others’ words. Some people will pass off their opinion without experience. Some people will share their experiences without facts. We are discerning with what we take as gospel, knowing that false information reinforces both our limiting beliefs as well as the culture of inequality that determines our place in the world. We absorb and process information correctly and prepare to speak up when our instinct tells us that something is not right.
Actions
- Filter Your Inputs: When someone is holding court at a part of dinner, ask them if it’s a fact, opinion, or personal experience, and consider the source's credibility.
- Pause Before Reacting: Take a moment to evaluate whether the information aligns with your values or reinforces limiting beliefs.
- Speak Up Thoughtfully: When something feels off, trust your instinct and address misinformation or bias with clarity and respect.
