Just Three Things To Make Sense of the Election

Just Three Things To Make Sense of the Election

My anxiety was at an all-time high post-election as I was consuming way too much news media on what a Republican world would look like. That said, three pieces of media made sense to me. I'm recommending them to you.

1) Crypto Bros wanted deregulation, so they paid for the President who would give it to them.

This article reminds me of why I'm always so irritated by Big Tech/Crypto. With Elon Musk leading the DOGE, they're actually laughing at us. Read more.

2) There was constant talk of a Gender War

That according to results didn't really exist with many Republican women sticking to voting for Trump. I always want to read what Jia Tolentino thinks. Read More.

3) The real reason Trump won

I am officially one of those NYT subscribers who has crossed over to the Free Press and found a refreshing voice. I agree with 99% of this podcast, which is bi-partisan and explains what went wrong from all sides of the table.

Why am I so invested in this? Because I think, if we are not careful, the same thing will happen to Labour and the UK and Kemi Babadook cannot be the leader of this country.

To me:

  • The Democrats are no longer representing the working class. Liberals are too snotty about voters who they deem rednecks.
  • Kamala's campaign was not inspiring at all to me across the pond. She had no clear policy apart from abortion that anyone could latch on to and I found her speeches weak. Even I knew what Trump stood for: Immigration and Economy. I also knew he would not ban abortion.
  • I thought it was a bad move not to do a speech the night of the polls. If there's one thing I've learned about being a leader, it's that you don't run away from your supporters when things are bad. That's the exact moment that you lead from the front and turn the negative into a rallying cry. It was disappointing.

Anyway, have a listen.
