48 Hours in Clerkenwell

Okay, so I sort of miss London a little bit. At the very least, I miss my neighbourhood. I go back each month to get my nails done, eat pho and walk around a little bit. I love EC1.

I've lived Clerkenwell three times in twenty years. First as a student I lived in Theobolds Road, in a basement flat next to the bus stop. I had to leave because the exhaust fumes from pre-electric buses meant that I couldn't open the window.

Then when I graduated, I lived on Farringdon Road, opposite the station. I felt like I was in a BBC flatshare drama and I loved every minute of it.

The third flat I had was the penthouse on Herbal Hill. I moved in during the pandemic for a steal. It was a slightly run down building but had a swimming pool on the ground floor and a concierge which was a new bonus for me.

When COVID was over, the landlord served me an eviction notice so they could increase the rent. I had to move round the corner off Goswell Road in a flat twice what I was previously planning and it was a stressful time but my flat and location were gorgeous.

I guess that's my way of saying, this is my hood. When I secure a London pied-a-terre, it will definitely be back in Clerkenwell. Here's my guide to the neighbourhood...
